1.4104 Stainless Steel
All You Need to Know About Martensitic Stainless Steel X14CRMOS17, 1.4104, AISI 430F DIN, According to EN 10088-1
What is 1.4104 Stainless Steel Grade
The 1.4104-grade stainless steel is martensitic stainless steel. With the controlled addition of Mo and raising the carbon, it can be Heat Treated. This also can be a solution annealed if required. But the Solution annealing temperature is 820 It has moderate strength and corrosion resistance. Due to its porosity, the 1.4104 stainless steel grade cannot be used for containing high-pressure gas or liquid.
The 1.4104-grade stainless steel has the following properties:
- Moderate corrosion resistance
- Moderate strength
- Porous
Why use 1.4104 Stainless Steel
The 1.4104-grade stainless steel is perfect to build a variety of aircraft parts. It is resistant to gas, oil, atmosphere, freshwater, nitric acid, and a lot of organic compounds.
The stainless steel also shows good machinability due to the addition of Sulphur.
What is the chemical composition of 1.4104 stainless steel?
